Volunteer Recruitment

The Town of McCandless is protected from fire and rescue emergencies by a 100% volunteer service that runs thousands of calls for service annually. The Town's fire service consists of three fire companies (Highland, Ingomar and Peebles) operating four stations located throughout the Town. Staffing of these companies is an ongoing effort.

Volunteer firefighters are always needed. We are urging the public to step up and help your community as a firefighter or non-firefighter lending administrative support. Non-firefighters are in demand. The fire companies need people who can assist with public relations, finances, documentation, filing, organizing, IT, and more!

What are the benefits?

  • Annual tax credit for McCandless residents
  • Annual incentive checks and rewards
  • Full-ride associate degree scholarships from CCAC through FireVEST
  • Free training opportunities
  • Free physicals
  • Additional life insurance policies for all members
  • Lifelong friendships
  • Giving back to your community
